I think the article best reads a Weak into free agency.

Now if I remember Adam Burish was scratched from all the Hawks Stanley Cup Finals game so to say he hoisted the cup is a bit of an overstatement.

We did see the best of TJ Can't skate, and he is not that good. But you can keep dreaming, the only player worth anything that we acquired via trade at last years deadline was Daniel Winnik and he is only a marginal 3rd liner, but an up grade over Mitchell.

And nothing about our soon to be named Assistant Coach? Rumor has it that former Kings assistant Jamie Kompon is getting the job. Kompon much hated by kings fans even has a facebook page fireJamieKompon, seems like the perfect fit for little Toddie's staff.

This was a great signing for the Wild and will help bring a balance of power to the NHL. Prior to this signing the rumors were that these guys would end up in places like Pittsburgh, Philadelphia or Detroit where the talent level is already through the roof. This does also mean a tougher game for the Sharks four times a year when they play Minnesota but keep in mind that San Jose has played in, and continues to play in the arguably the most difficult division in the league so what are few more tougher games.

This is assuming the players actually play well with the rest of the team. Hockey isn't basketball where 2 players can make a team win. How do we know these players won't end up like Scott Gomez or Wade Redden who chased the big money?

You don't. But at the end of the day they gained two fantastic players while not having to trade any pieces. They have the cap room...

Still waiting for Douglas Murray to be dealt. And also holding my breath that I don't wake up one morning to find out DW has traded Pavelski+ for Nash.

TMac will be fired at some point most likely and Larry will be head coach soon.

Really OJ,

can you enlighten us, and tell us all what information is wrong? Are you saying Burish did play in the cup finals?

This is really funny. So eager so prove that you are always right that you didn't even TRY to figure out what the guy's comment was in relation to, did you?

My guess is that he nor you even knew who Jamie Kompon is was. I know that was what he was referring too. But you continue on with your brilliance.

If you knew that he was referring to the Larry Robinson hire then why did you make the comment about Burrish and him being a scratch in the SCF if that was not what OJ was talking about?

How about: Luongo ($5.33m x 10) and Booth ($4.25m x 3) for Thornton ($7m x 2) and Niemi ($3.8m x 3)? You actually save $1m in cap space, you get an elite goalie to replace Niemi, you move Thornton and change the culture of the team and you get a capable top-6 player back to replace him.

Any interest?

Thorton is their playoff hero. Why would they want to get rid of such a talented guy in the playoffs?

I'm not crazy about the Burish signing. That's a lot of money and a lot of years for a 4th liner. He' not much of a fighter and he prone to taking bad penalties. At 29, I doubt he's getting much better or much more resilient.

I guess he's an upgrade on what you have, but I always feel that guys like Burish are better brought up from within and payed less than $1m. Once they get better offers than that, replace them with more cheap plugs. Vancouver has seen quite a few of those like Ruutu and Glass. They are great to have when they are cheap, but at a certain price point they really lose value.

Well, Luongo gets his fair share of derision in Vancouver, too. The Canucks could use a playmaker to get Kesler the puck on the 2nd line. IMO, the Sharks really need an upgrade in goal. Niemi is quite mediocre. We take away the salary there and also provide a decent forward to fill a roster spot. Thornton's replacement as top line centre would be Couture, I assume.

Deal Marleau to Toronto or somewhere and you've got the young guys taking over the team's leadership. Bam!

I was just warning you Thorton is their pride and joy, joy, joy. They MIGHT get butthurt you put him in the trade.

I think its time to let the old man go though.

He's a very good player. But he's also a large, slowish forward who depends on his physical strength to be at peak effectiveness. At 33, he's not going to be the guy he as in 2006 anymore. And not that he deserves all the blame for the Sharks playoff shortcomings, but I think time has shown that this core isn't going to get it done, especially with the lesser goaltending Niemi brings. I think it's time to ship out Marleau and Thornton and let Couture be the new face of the franchise.

For all the flak Lu gets, he's capable of stealing a series or 2. As a fan, I'd be more comfortable with Lu in net than I would be relying on Thornton to outscore Niemi's shortfalls.

But I could be totally wrong. I wanted to see if Sharks fans had any interest in seeing a move like that.
